I AMsterdam

Our counterpart engineer(also Filipino) at our Singapore office, joined us for a technical training held in-house.

He only had 1 free weekend, so we decided to take him to Amsterdam. Anyway, he'll be back this November, so perhaps we can also visit other neighboring Euro countries. Para sulit!

We took the train from Den Bosch, so our first stop was at the famous (infamous?) strip in Amsterdam for WINDOW SHOPPING :) The "Red Light District" is nearby the Central Station, so we just walked a few blocks through the Zeedijk street, made a right to a small alley, and VOILA: live mannequins by the window! The street is located in the oldest part of Amsterdam covering several blocks. It just once again proves, that it is indeed the "oldest profession" :)

We went there to satisfy our curiosity as tourists, so no elucidations about moral topics in this blog :) After all, this is a journal, not an editorial...But if you do, only have one day to tour Amsterdam, I suggest you should not linger in this place too long, or else you'll get an entirely one-sided (slanted) impression of the Netherlands. Netherlands ain't all that :)

We then passed by the ROYAL PALACE at the Dam Square, after which headed to the MUSEUM'S PLEIN. Amsterdam is noted for many outstanding museums, including the Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Rembrandt House Museum and Van Gogh Museum. We also had a quick stop at the "Flower Market in Bloemenstraat" on our way to the museums...
Then just spent the whole day walking, and walking and walking.Whew!

- Statue of Multatuli on a square over the Singel Canal.
"Multatuli, is Eduard Douwes Dekker's penname. He was a Dutch writer famous for his satirical novel denouncing the Dutch colonialism in its colony before, the Indonesia.
TRIVIA: Apparently, not only the Filipinos giggle when they see this inscription. Also the Finnish. As Multa Tuli is a combination of two Finnish words, that when roughly translated, would mean "I ejaculated". For Tagalog, it would mean Fine/Fee("Multa") is Circumcision ("Tuli").

But the pseudonym, which is derived from Latin, actually means "I have suffered much", or, more literally "I have borne much" referring to himself.
